Each movie requires its own unique process. Perhaps watching our creative process will empower you to make better decisions for your own.

In this first episode of Making a Movie: Step by Step, Hunter explains how the show will track the evolution of the second feature film from production company Fatelink. This series chronicles the creative and logistical process of building an independent film, from start to finish.

As we explore each stage in the process, we consider the archetypes within us – and within our team members – that are needed to carry out the complex, wide-ranging tasks associated with filmmaking. You’ll need an inner Dreamer or Idea Man to generate ideas. You’ll need the kid inside you – an Enthusiast – to stay inspired. You’ll need a Fixer to address problems as they come up, an Optimist to keep a bright attitude, with a Mystic or perhaps a Guide to answer the spiritual challenges that the process presents. You’ll need a Desk Jockey for all that paperwork as well as a Diplomat, Performer, and perhaps a Jetsetter to get your film to the world. So join us as we build a movie and shine a light on this complicated process so that we can empower others to live out their dreams.

Our goals for the series include:

1. Answering some of the key questions about producing an independent film: What does it take to make an independent film? What are the steps? What does the creative process look like? How about logistics? And what about the money? How do you find the resources to make the film?

2. Sharing the joy and meaning that comes from making something out of nothing.

3. Establishing transparency about our journey so that you can learn from us and make modifications to your own creative process and the strategies you deploy to make your own movies.
